ABOUT US
Since 1997, the Friends of St. Catherine's Park (fSCP), a non-profit, all-volunteer community group located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, has been dedicated to maintaining and enhancing St. Catherine's Park. Located on First Avenue between East 67th and East 68th Streets, St. Catherine’s Park is the second most visited park per square foot in New York City.
In cooperation with the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), fSCP members plant and maintain the gardens, ensure the playground equipment is kept in good repair and co-sponsor adult and children’s events in the park.
Throughout the growing season, fSCP volunteers inspect and clean flower and tree beds and maintain the park's plantings. fSCP has planted over twenty thousand daffodils and tulip bulbs, one dogwood tree and scores of rose and other flowering shrubs in the park gardens. We also facilitated the planting of 16 trees along East 68th Street between First and Second Avenues by the DPR.
fSCP improvement projects include:
During the summer season, fSCP supports a DPR summer playground associate in organizing games and art projects. In the spring and fall, fSCP manages "It's My Park Day" in the park featuring planting, general clean, activities for children, clowns, face-painting and balloon animals. A children’s music program is also held in the spring and fall.
fSCP is supported by tax-exempt donations from community residents, Upper East Side institutions and local organizations.
